Mid-June-finally getting into a routine & some sharing
June 15, 2008 | |
As I said in my previous post, was a long semester for me. But I am adjusting and getting back into a groove of work and life. Last week I succeeded in convincing the powers that be at FHSU I needed to attend the Building Learning Communities Conference in Boston week of July 14. I am so excited. I have wanted to attend this conference for quite a while, so can’t wait. Wish Marco’s pre-conference session was not full, but such is life. I am going to one pre-conference event. An all day Hands-on workshop on Web. 2.0 tools sponsored by Atomic Learning. Not sure who the presenter is, but I am sure there will lots of learning going on that day. I am just giddy about going to this conference. Sounds strange, but have gone to NECC for the past I don’t know how many years in a row, and decided something different might be good for me. Here is the link to the conference in case you are interested. http://www.novemberlearning.com/blc/
While catching up on Twitter today, Chris Lehmann had a link to his blog, while there I discover this coool little tool. It is called Wordle. http://wordle.net/
” Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.”
Check out the one I made from words/topic I teach in my course to future teachers. It is fast and fun and easy. It is posted on my Ning site for my summer class. http://tecs390summer2008.ning.com/.
